Buying a Kayak? Use or New you win either way
Often new Kayaks can exceed budgets, but if you are already renting one every other weekend, you could save a bit and buy one. I have been kayaking for about 7 or 8 years and I discovered one of the best ways to get a Kayak is to get a used one.
Not only do you get a quality vessel or craft, but often there is a lot of free gear that comes with it, like PFD vests, anchors, lights, ropes, fishing rods, etc. All of these items do not come with a Kayak and can burn your budget a bit.
Best times to hunt for a used kayak is fall, winter and spring. During these times people clean out their garage. Also there are many people that buy a new kayak, try it out few times and then decide to sell it because it is not for them.
These are the best opportunities.
Check craigslist, REI used sales and similar channels for deals.
Enjoy and be free
peace
